Hyundai Tiburon Spares
The Hyundai Tiburon (sold as Coupe in SA) is a 2+2 sports coupe across the RD and GK generations. Beta 2.0 four-cylinder and the Delta 2.7 V6 are the engines that drive parts demand. We stock Beta and Delta engines, 5-speed manual gearboxes, pop-up headlight assemblies (RD) and body-kit panels for the GK.

Hyundai Tiburon Spares — What We Stock
Hyundai Tiburon spares are available from our Lenasia South yard for both SA generations — the RD (1996-2001) and GK (2002-2008), sold locally as the Hyundai Coupe. Delta V6 engines, Beta 2.0 units, 5-speed manual gearboxes, pop-up headlight mechanisms (RD), GK body-kit panels and cosmetic interior trim that dealers no longer stock are our most-requested Tiburon lines. The Tiburon community in SA is tight-knit — if you need it, ask us before assuming it is unavailable.
The Hyundai Tiburon — sold in South Africa simply as the Hyundai Coupe — is a 2+2 sports coupe that ran across two distinct generations between 1996 and 2008. The first-generation RD with its pop-up headlights kicked off Hyundai's serious push into the sporty end of the passenger-car market, and the second-generation GK that arrived in 2002 brought sharper wedge styling and, for the first time, a genuine V6 option. Both generations have aged into modifier and enthusiast territory, which keeps parts demand steady even though new sales ended over fifteen years ago.
The engines are split clearly across the two generations. The RD ran the Beta family — G4GR 1.8 and G4GM 2.0 four-cylinders — paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The GK kept the Beta 2.0 as the entry powertrain (now in G4GC twin-cam form) and added the G6BA 2.7 Delta V6, which is the engine that turned the Coupe from a styling exercise into a properly fast car. The Delta V6 cars are increasingly collectible, and clean used Delta engines, ECUs and 5-speed manual gearboxes are the parts we are asked for most.
At Hyundai Spares SA the Tiburon sits in the enthusiast-niche category alongside the Veloster. We do not see daily volumes, but the Tiburon community in South Africa is tight-knit and tends to come to us for the parts no dealer will help with — the pop-up headlight motors and housings on RD cars, the Delta V6's intake plenum and EGR system, body-kit panels on the GK, and the cosmetic interior trim that is otherwise impossible to replace.

Common Parts We Stock
Common Tiburon Issues
RD Pop-Up Headlight Mechanism Failure
Symptom: The pop-up headlight motors burn out, gears strip and housings crack on RD Tiburons the famous weak point. Beta coolant pipes also corrode and leak on outdoor-kept cars.
Fix: Complete pop-up headlight assemblies refurbished in-house from donor cars. Coolant pipe sets and 5-speed synchros in steady stock for RD rebuild projects. From R1,800
GK Delta V6 Carbon Buildup and Coil Failure
Symptom: Carbon buildup in the intake plenum triggers rough idle and check-engine codes on the G6BA 2.7 Delta V6. Ignition coil packs fail with age on both engines.
Fix: Used Delta V6 intake plenums, EGR system components and individual coil packs from GK donor cars. Clean Delta V6 short blocks also in stock. From R3,200
G4GC Beta 2.0 Chain Tensioner Stretch (GK)
Symptom: The GK G4GC uses a timing chain instead of a belt, but the tensioner can stretch on high-mileage examples a rattle on cold start is the warning.
Fix: Timing chain tensioner kits in stock. Used G4GC long blocks also available for post-failure rebuilds. GK body panel parts and tail lights in steady demand from modder-owners.From R1,400

Common Tiburon Issues
On the RD generation the pop-up headlight mechanism is the famous weak point — the motors burn out, the gears strip, and the housings crack. We pull complete assemblies from donor cars and refurbish them in-house. The Beta engines are mechanically tough, but timing belts need strict 90,000 km service intervals and the throttle-body coolant pipes corrode and leak on cars left outdoors. The 5-speed manual is largely durable but synchros on 2nd and 3rd wear with age.
On the GK, the Delta V6 has a known issue with carbon build-up in the intake plenum that triggers rough idle and check-engine codes. Ignition coil packs fail with age. The G4GC Beta 2.0 in the GK uses a timing chain instead of a belt, but the tensioner can stretch on high-mileage examples. Body parts on both generations — bumper covers, headlight units (on GK), tail lights, side skirts and rear spoilers — are the cosmetic items modder-owners come to us for most often.
