The GK kept the Beta 2.0 as the entry powertrain (now in G4GC twin-cam form) and added the G6BA 2.7 Delta V6, which is the engine that turned the Coupe from a styling exercise into a properly fast car. RD Coolant Pipe Corrosion and Synchro Wear
Symptom: Beta throttle-body coolant pipes corrode and leak on outdoor-kept RD Tiburons, and 2nd and 3rd gear synchros wear with age.
Fix: Ask us for a quote on coolant pipe sets and used 5-speed manual gearboxes for RD rebuild projects.
GK Delta V6 Carbon Buildup and Coil Failure
Symptom: Carbon buildup in the intake plenum triggers rough idle and check-engine codes on the G6BA 2.7 Delta V6. Ignition coil packs fail with age on both engines.

G4GC Beta 2.0 Timing Belt (GK)
Symptom: The Beta 2.0 is belt-driven, and a belt that snaps from skipped services can cause serious top-end damage.
Fix: Replace the timing belt on schedule. Ask us for a quote on a used G4GC long block if the belt has already failed.
Common Tiburon Issues
On the RD generation, the Beta engines are mechanically tough, but timing belts need strict 90,000 km service intervals and the throttle-body coolant pipes corrode and leak on cars left outdoors. The 5-speed manual is largely durable but synchros on 2nd and 3rd wear with age.
On the GK, the Delta V6 has a known issue with carbon build-up in the intake plenum that triggers rough idle and check-engine codes. Ignition coil packs fail with age. The G4GC Beta 2.0 in the GK is belt-driven, so keep to the belt service interval. Body parts on both generations — bumper covers, headlight units (on GK), tail lights, side skirts and rear spoilers — are cosmetic items we can quote on for modder-owners.
