Symptom: High-pressure fuel pump and injector failure on J3 CRDi units — usually caused by dirty fuel and skipped filter changes. Power loss and white smoke are the warning signs.

The J3 2.9 CRDi is reliable when looked after, but the high-pressure fuel pump and injectors are the items that fail most often — usually a consequence of dirty fuel and skipped filter changes.
